Here is a user generated video just after the quake struck Haiti. It was shot far from the devastation, on a hillside, yet it is one of the most powerful pieces of video I’ve seen in the last few days. It shows the scope of the destruction, and sends a shiver down your spine when you mentally match it with the imagery we’ve seen over the last week, of bodies in the streets. It is hard to tell if the women involved were aware, at the time, how many lives were lost. There were similar reactions in user generated videos on 9/11, capturing the moments when people hadn’t quite grasped -there are people in those buildings-. It is a horrible site for all of us to watch from here.
